What is the Summer Bridge Program?
The Summer Bridge Program at Oregon State University gives incoming freshmen students a chance to adjust to their new surroundings on campus before the rest of students arrive. The 12-day program is open to incoming first-year students from underserved groups. The program's goal is to ease the transition into campus life and increase student retention.
During the Summer Bridge students:
-
Learn about science and research at OSU
-
Learn about the available resources for student success
-
Gain skills and knowledge that will support their study skills and work habits
-
Think critically about the role of programs, research and higher education in addressing society's challenges
