An aggregate of mussels. In this lesson, students learn about the impacts of acidified seawater on mussels and oyster’s shells. Students will run experiments exposing shells with seawater at different levels of acidity representing current and potential future ocean conditions. Students will learn to describe the process of ocean acidification, the causes of ocean acidification, and explain the impacts of acidified water on different kinds of shells.
